Starbucks doesn’t fight back

My rant and rave about Starbucks not reusing my reusable cup rendered a response with horrible grammar and showing that they didn’t get it. Thanks Starbucks thanks!

Emailed sent on 5/11/12:
Hello Xxxx,

I am truly sorry to hear about your disappointment with a disposable cup being used to make your frappuccino before it is placed on your disposable cup. This is definitely not the type of quality service we strive to provide for our customers here at Starbucks. I completely understand your frustrations and would be upset as well.

Customer feedback is essential to the growth and success of Starbucks. I will definitely forward your comments to the appropriate department here in our corporate office.

Sincerely,

Siria M

Obama Makes Me Gay

Well, I already am but……hey I am glad he supports us. Although this shouldn’t even technically be a discussion but rather just a given - I delighted to hear support.

So here’s the email “Obama” sent:  (I would have ended it a little more differently.  Something like “If you agree, you can stand up with me here. and if you don’t agree well you’re simply a lost cause for humanity”

the email:

Friend —

Today, I was asked a direct question and gave a direct answer:

I believe that same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.

I hope you’ll take a moment to watch the conversation, consider it, and weigh in yourself on behalf of marriage equality:

http://my.barackobama.com/Marriage

I’ve always believed that gay and lesbian Americans should be treated fairly and equally. I was reluctant to use the term marriage because of the very powerful traditions it evokes. And I thought civil union laws that conferred legal rights upon gay and lesbian couples were a solution.

But over the course of several years I’ve talked to friends and family about this. I’ve thought about members of my staff in long-term, committed, same-sex relationships who are raising kids together. Through our efforts to end the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, I’ve gotten to know some of the gay and lesbian troops who are serving our country with honor and distinction.

What I’ve come to realize is that for loving, same-sex couples, the denial of marriage equality means that, in their eyes and the eyes of their children, they are still considered less than full citizens.

Even at my own dinner table, when I look at Sasha and Malia, who have friends whose parents are same-sex couples, I know it wouldn’t dawn on them that their friends’ parents should be treated differently.

So I decided it was time to affirm my personal belief that same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.

I respect the beliefs of others, and the right of religious institutions to act in accordance with their own doctrines. But I believe that in the eyes of the law, all Americans should be treated equally. And where states enact same-sex marriage, no federal act should invalidate them.

If you agree, you can stand up with me here.

Thank you,

Barack

i'm a barista in canada, and we have little sticky note type things with identical checkboxes that are on the cup. we just mark the drink and stick them on your reusable cup. i thought it was the same in the states. maybe your store is just out of them or has never ordered them. oh and here, you also get 10 cents off for bringing your reusable cups. :)
kevaan asked

Wew! Thanks for your note!  Yes we do get 10cents off, but no sticky note here. The barista literally told me today “we don’t use wax pencils in New York anymore”  Why?! That’s kind of weird.

I completely became that annoying customer today & sent a ranting email to @Starbucks. It’s legit though!

I recently purchased a reusable cup because I am disgusted by the waste we produce as humans & since I get a frap almost 5/week I figured this would help.  To my dismay I find out that every time I take my reusable cup into Starbucks  the barista still has to mark up my order on a disposable cup (because that can’t use wax pencils in New York, or so I am told & a sharpie would be permanent on my cup) plus the measurement for my drink always takes place in the disposable cup.  So now I’m not only wasting an extra cup, but I also spent money I didn’t need to AND the disposable cup isn’t even being used 100%.
The education has to happen within stores, that this could TOTALLY be resolved with a wax pencil and measurement using the reusable cup, even if it’s a little off, I’d be up for that!
Can we resolve please?!

WAYFARE TAVERN

I’m f**kin’ speechless!

This is a model for what restaurants should strive to be. Service that didn’t miss a step and made it seem natural, attentiveness without annoyance.

Interior with a fireplace although I sat a ways away at the bar.

Bartender chose the oysters for me as I asked him to and my good Buddha!! What he called the “Asian Trio” made me absolutely melt, buttery goodness of oysters, it was feeling that’s usually kept behind closed doors but now there it was aaaallll out on the counter!

Steak Frites medium rare to friggen die for, I wanted to eat slowly to savory every aesthetically please bite. The cooks must have some serious love in their heart for a piece of TLC like this!

THIS experience doesn’t happen often but when it does…..boy am I grateful! I may *ahem* come …..again…. until then I’ll just think about the odd business crowd this place attracted.  Must question this Wayfare, they don’t appreciate you like I do.
